The Gregorian Birthday (The Ritual of the Ego)
What does the birthday party mean? It means the celebration of the birth of a person under the Gregorian solar calendar. In other words, today Angel turned 18 Gregorian solar years since his birth. Since when were birthdays celebrated? Do we really have years as the Gregorian calendar establishes? The birthday day has been promoted by the Christian church since they boasted of the birth of their saviour Jesus Christ on December 25, from then on, all their pontiffs and saints would have their own birthday. Christian groups such as Jehovah›s Witnesses do not celebrate this festivity, because they say that these celebrations are of pagan origin, created by Greeks and Egyptians, and that the Roman Catholic Church adopted in their conversion to Christianity. The day of birth was very important for civilisations such as the Mesoamerican, who from that day on, the path of each individual being was ‹predicted›, including the name. So the birthday of something has been celebrated at least since the day of the birth of the sun was appointed. And what about the classic birthday party between friends then? Blow out the candles on the cake? Is it all just the product of marketing? To understand more deeply the meaning of the birthday we must openly inspect what we understand as a calendar.
The celebration of our birthday contains a certain hypocrisy. Neither in heaven nor on earth, are there similar points that coincide entirely with the day of your birth after a solar year -which is not an integer-! May everything be exactly the same as to celebrate! You celebrate the Gregorian year! and how the cosmos is interpreted in it. Instead of the personal cycle, that is, how it is interpreted in the cosmos. You celebrate your fit into society, the generation to which you belong, which determines your relative position in the social system -if you are a child you go to school, if you are older you go to work, etc.-. You celebrate the victory of the calendar over you, that of your servitude to the system, and your expiration date -the use that should be given to your life time- in it. The birthday party is an ode to the personality that is formed within the system, to the ego, to oneself, to the one who lives and dies. Gifts are given, cakes are cooked, parties are prepared, and incense is even placed on them, if necessary, because it is a ritual -of the sun-. Not any other day of the theoretically 365 days per year, but that one, the one marked on the calendar. On that day of the year, it is best to be as generous as possible, as tolerant as you can, and as nice as you know how, if you spoil the only day of the year that person deserves to be adored. And you do, because on your day, you expect such an excitement -that of being the centre of attention, exempt from all conflict-. But if that day is not marked on the calendar, you have no action to take… no phone calls, no texting, no parties, no gifts, etc.-.
It is the calendar that tells us when we should behave in such a way, or when to give gifts and celebrate parties -dedicate ourselves to others, or to ourselves-, we are obliged to do so, if we do not want to generate a conflict. Every day is good, significant, how to celebrate it -honour others and yourself- how to focus exclusively on one. Every moment that passes you are different from the one who has left. What do you really celebrate on your birthday? The complete revolution -Gregorian year- that passes from a marked time -that of your birth-. The teachings of the god of time, Chronos -which is Saturn- are being celebrated through a solar ritual. The word calendar comes from the Latin calendarium, and it was the name given by the Romans to accounting books. In the origins, the Romans followed a lunar calendar, and the first day of the month -new moon-, was called the day of the Calendas, which was when bills and / or debts had to be paid. Nobody liked the Calendas! In Latin, Calenda comes from the verb calare, which means to shout or call. Since that is what they did, the men of the calendarium on the day that it was their turn to collect. Calendars are an aberration to the cosmic nature and movement of the earth, and a benefit to the market. Who controls your time controls your mind!
